Personal Information

Lucio Taponecco was born in Sarzana (Italy) in 1940. He received the "Laurea" degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Pisa in 1966.

From 1970 to 1982 he was with the former Institute of Electrotechnics of University of Pisa as an Assistant Professor of Electrotechnics, and he was also charged of teaching the Electromechanics graduate course as Appointed Professor since 1972.

In 1982 he was appointed as Associate Professor in the Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Electrical Drives sector at the same Institute, which successively became the Department of Electrical Systems and Automation.

In 1985 his didactic duty was changed into teaching the Electrical Machines graduate course. Since 1988 he is charged to teach the Electrical Drives course for the Electrical Engineering graduate degree course. He has been author of more than 60 technical papers, mainly presented at technical international conferences.

Research Interests

His general research interests are in the fields of Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Electrical Drives. In particular, in the recent years he has been mainly involved in research activities concerning:

  • innovative modulation methods for static converters
  • power quality problems
  • design and analysis of unconventional linear machines
  • integrated design of electrical drives for special applications
